Nick Pope will reportedly undergo an operation later this week to rectify damage to his dislocated shoulder, keeping him out of action for the next three weeks.

Burnley and England goalkeeper Nick Pope is reportedly facing a three-month layoff after dislocating his shoulder in last week's Europa League qualifier against Aberdeen.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche admitted to being fearful of a 'serious' injury for the 26-year-old following his collision with Sam Cosgrove in Thursday evening's 1-1 draw at Pittodrie.

Pope was due to undergo a scan on Monday to ascertain the seriousness of the damage, and the Daily Mail claims that surgery has been recommended to fix the shoulder.

The report suggests that an operation has been pencilled in for later this week, with the former Charlton Athletic stopper - an unused squad member for England at the World Cup this summer - unlikely to return until the winter.

Tom Heaton is also currently struggling with a thigh injury, leaving Anders Lindegaard as Burnley's first-choice keeper for the second leg against Aberdeen later this week.
