Last-minute Peter Murphy goal seals Accrington Stanley win

A last-gasp goal by Peter Murphy seals the win for Accrington Stanley away at Bristol Rovers.

A last-ditch goal by Peter Murphy ensured that Accrington Stanley seized all three points in today's League Two game against Bristol Rovers.

The home side dominated the opening stages, Matt Harrold powering his header just over the bar after a precise ball from Eliot Richards.

A few minutes later, Lee Brown's ball into the area was met by the head of Harrold, but the forward's attempt was narrowly wide.

Midway through the first half, the ball was frantically cleared off the line by Stanley after a passing sequence from Rovers involving Kaid Mohamed, Brown and John-Joe O'Toole.

Mohamed then forced a strong save from the Stanley keeper, who was able to palm it out for a corner.

Just after the restart, Mohamed struck the outside of the right-hand post after shooting from inside the area, while midway through the second half, Richards was able to skilfully turn his man inside out in the box, but his shot blazed over.

Bristol Rovers kept pushing forward in the final 10 minutes, but weren't able to turn their dominance into goals. They would rue those missed opportunities, as Murphy fired a shot into the top right corner right at the death to ensure that the away side left the Memorial Stadium with all three points.
