Brighton lineup vs. Southampton: Predicted XI for Premier League clash as Lewis Dunk call made

Is Dunk available again? Predicted Brighton XI vs. Southampton

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler is waiting to learn whether Lewis Dunk will be available for Saturday's Premier League battle with Southampton at St Mary's.

The Seagulls captain sat out the 3-0 crushing of Chelsea last Friday with a rib injury and is currently on the Seagulls' touch-and-go list, but Solly March (muscle) and Pervis Estupinan (unspecified) are expected to be available again.

On the other hand, Jason Steele (shoulder), James Milner (thigh), Igor Julio (thigh) and Ferdi Kadioglu (toe) will not make the cut, although it would be a shock to see Hurzeler consider any alterations after such an emphatic success.

Should Dunk not be cleared to play, Joel Veltman, Jan Paul van Hecke and Adam Webster should line up in front of Bart Verbruggen, who registered an assist for Kaoru Mitoma's wonderful goal in the Chelsea triumph.

Yankuba Minteh struck a double in the same game, despite having to operate in a wing-back slot, and the 20-year-old is now likely to reprise that role as Tariq Lamptey functions on the opposite side.

Carlos Baleba and Jack Hinshelwood should be immovable in the middle, while Mitoma and Georginio Rutter are primed to work in tandem with attacking figurehead Danny Welbeck.

The 34-year-old provided the assists for both of Minteh's strikes against Chelsea and has now had a direct hand in 10 goals in the current Premier League campaign, six of his own and four helpers.

Brighton & Hove Albion possible starting lineup: Verbruggen; Minteh, Van Hecke, Webster, Veltman, Lamptey; Rutter, Baleba, Hinshelwood, Mitoma; Welbeck
