Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has insisted that it has been a good season for his side.
The 10th-placed Seagulls, who gained promotion to the Championship last term, capped their campaign with a goalless draw at Barnsley on Saturday.
Despite a disappointing end to what could have been another promotion-wining season, Poyet gave two reasons why it has been a good year on the South Coast.
"I will tell you two or three things that are very important," he said.
"One is finishing tenth. For the last 20 years Brighton didn't finish in the top ten in the second tier of English football so credit to the players.
"Then I always say if you have a big, big rival (Crystal Palace) you have two options. You can try and beat them and it doesn't matter what happens in the end. I like the one where you finish ahead of the big rival by 10 points."
Plans were recently announced which could see Brighton expand their AMEX Stadium.
