Chris Hughton has admitted to being left surprised by Brighton & Hove Albion's impressive start to the season.
Brighton are yet to be beaten and currently sit top of the Championship with 13 points from five games, but Hughton claims that the Seagulls are further in their development than he expected after finishing 20th in the last campaign.
"We were hopeful of a good start but it's been a very good start and better than what we expected," the Brighton boss told Sky Sports News.
"We had a good pre-season and part of the reason for the good start is that we didn't have any injuries in the pre-season period so we were able to work with the team. There was also a slow introduction with the players we brought in."
Brighton play host to Hull City on Saturday afternoon.
