Brighton planning to increase stadium capacity

Brighton & Hove Albion plan to increase the capacity of their new stadium.

The Amex Stadium currently holds 22,500 supporters but chief executive Martin Perry told BBC Sussex that the club hopes to add another 8,000 to that figure.

"We're hoping we will be in a position to put in a planning application at the end of this year," he said.

"There is space in the East Stand to put in another tier and we can fill in the corners."

The stadium officially opens on Saturday when the Seagulls face Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season friendly.
