Jonathan Douglas free to leave Brentford

Brentford boss Marinus Dijkhuizen confirms that midfielder Jonathan Douglas is free to join another club this summer.

Brentford head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen has confirmed that midfielder Jonathan Douglas can leave the club this summer.

The 33-year-old captained the side last season and was an influential figure as they reached the playoff semi-finals just a year after winning promotion from League One.

However, Dijkhuizen has stated that Douglas is not in his plans at Griffin Park.

"He is not part of the squad and is training separately. There is no future for him," Dijkhuizen told BBC London 94.9.

"We decided it is better for him to move on - for his future and for the future of Brentford."

Douglas has made 187 appearances for Brentford since joining them from Swindon Town in 2011.
