Marinus Dijkhuizen: 'Andre Gray goal adds £5m to price-tag'

Brentford manager Marinus Dijkhuizen says that Andre Gray's goal against Ipswich Town adds £5m to his value.

Brentford manager Marinus Dijkhuizen has said that Andre Gray's late goal in yesterday's Championship opener against Ipswich Town has added £5m to his value.

The striker started on the bench due to transfer speculation linking him with Hull City, but came on to score the first of two stoppage-time goals as Brentford battled back to earn a 2-2 draw.

"I have spoken a lot with Andre. He is a very quick rising star at the club but Hull want him and are bidding for him," Dijkhuizen told reporters.

"He said to me that he was not mentally ready to play, which I respected, in the game but I needed him to come off the bench and he was ready for it.

"He got a good goal, added something to the attack and maybe added £5million to his price tag."

Gray scored 17 goals last season as Brentford reached the Championship playoffs.
