Brentford are reportedly set to make a club-record offer to sign Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson before the transfer market closes.

Brentford are set to make a club-record bid for Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson, according to a report.

The Bees have been looking to add to their squad throughout January, and the 20-year-old is somebody that they have been linked with since the transfer window opened.

The Championship star has made 28 appearances this season in the league, scoring seven times in the process, which has attracted interest from the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, Brentford are now lining up a club-record bid for Johnson, in an attempt to secure his signature before the transfer window shuts on Monday.

The club have made several bids throughout the window, including a recent £18m offer, which was rejected by the Reds, who have insisted that the young winger is not up for sale.

That offer was more than they paid for Kristoffer Ajer in the summer, who is currently their most expensive signing in history, which cost the Premier League side £13.5m.

Brentford have become frustrated with Nottingham Forest's owner Evangelos Marinakis during this process, but they are confident that the deal will take place.
