Brentford bring in Queens Park Rangers youngster Josh Laurent

Brentford sign teenage midfielder Josh Laurent on an 18-month contract from Queens Park Rangers.

Championship promotion hopefuls Brentford have announced the signing of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Josh Laurent.

The 19-year-old has signed an 18-month contract at Griffin Park and will begin training with their development squad this week.

Bees academy director Osa Aibangee told the club's official website: "We are delighted to have Josh here. Josh has played against us in the past and he is a player that we have always rated highly.

"From our point of view it is great to have got Josh on board as we feel he is a player with a bright future. In the short term Josh will strengthen our development squad but in the medium term we see him as someone who will push on towards the first team."

Leytonstone-born Laurent made 16 appearances during a loan spell at Conference Premier outfit Braintree Town last season.
