Brentford march on with Wolverhampton Wanderers win

Brentford put four past Wolverhampton Wanderers as they extend their Championship winning streak to five games and close in on league leaders Derby County.

Brentford moved to within a point of league leaders Derby County with a 4-0 home thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon.

Goals from Alan Judge, Stuart Dallas, Andre Gray and Jota gave the Bees their fifth consecutive Championship win.

It was the visitors who started the brighter and they could have been ahead when Bakary Sako curled a free kick narrowly over David Button's goal.

Danny Graham came even closer to opening the scoring when he met Rajiv van La Parra's cross and powered a header against the crossbar, with the ball bouncing down on to the goal line, but the officials ruled it had not crossed.

Judge then gave Brentford the lead against the run of play when he collected Gray's cross and fired beyond Carl Ikeme just before the half-hour mark.

He went close again on 56 minutes, but his effort was defelcted away from goal by Samuel Ricketts, before substitute Dallas doubled his side's lead when he converted Alex Pritchard's cross.

Gray then made sure of the victory when he outpaced the Wolves defence and unleashed a fierce effort that beat Ikeme.

However, there was still time for substitute Jota to add a fourth with a cool strike in the last minute.
