Public inquiry may be needed to solve Brentford stadium dispute

A public inquiry may be needed for Brentford to acquire the land required to build a new stadium, after one of the landowners refused to sell.

A public inquiry may be needed for Brentford to acquire the final plot of land at the proposed site of their new stadium.

First Industrial, who own an office block at the Lionel Road site, have refused to sell despite being issued with a Compulsory Purchase Order.

It is understood that the Championship club have acquired all of the land required for the stadium apart from the First Industrial office block.

Brentford were given the go-ahead to build a new stadium in March last year, with a 20,000-seater venue expected to be completed by 2017.

The Bees are currently sixth in the Championship, following a 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town yesterday.
