Brentford book their place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup thanks to a 2-1 away win over Stoke City in the round of 16 on Wednesday.

Brentford secured their passage to the EFL Cup quarter-finals with an away victory over Stoke City on Wednesday.

Sergi Canos gave the Bees a lead in the first half, and Ivan Toney strengthened their position with a second before half time.

Romaine Sawyers, who made 135 appearances for Brentford between 2016 and 2019, then pulled a goal back for the hosts on the hour mark, but Thomas Frank's men held on for a 2-1 win.

They now head into the final eight, having previously defeated fourth-tier Oldham Athletic 7-0 thanks to four goals from Marcus Forss, a brace from new signing Yoane Wissa and a Raphael Diarra own goal.

Frank's men go into Saturday's quarter-final draw alongside fellow Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United as well as League One outfit Sunderland.
