Brazil seeking answers over lack of VAR use

Brazil have contacted football governing body FIFA to ask why VAR was not used for key decisions in Sunday's 1-1 World Cup draw with Switzerland.

The Selecao were made to settle for a point in their opening group match after Steven Zuber cancelled out Philippe Coutinho's spectacular opener.

A push on centre-back Miranda in the build-up to Switzerland's goal went unpunished, though, and Gabriel Jesus also had a penalty shout turned down at the Rostov Arena.

Officials did not appear to refer to the video assistant technology, and the Brazilian Football Confederation is now seeking answers.

"The CBF requires to know from FIFA the reason the technology was not used in key incidents during the game," a statement from the organisation read.

Three penalties have been awarded at Russia 2018 through the use of VAR.
