Callum Wilson nets hat-trick in Huddersfield Town rout

Callum Wilson scores three times for 10-man Bournemouth as they ease to a convincing 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth have won back-to-back games in the Premier League for the first time since April by thrashing Huddersfield Town 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium.

A hat-trick for striker Callum Wilson helped the Cherries on their way, as the hosts ran riot despite being reduced to 10 men late in the first half.

Harry Arter was also on the scoresheet in the first top-flight meeting between these two sides, with the hosts maintaining their impressive record in this fixture - now one defeat in 11 past encounters.

Huddersfield actually started the better of the two sides, coming close to an opener eight minutes in when Asmir Begovic was called into action to parry away Rajiv van La Parra's attempt.

Former Cherries defender Scott Malone was proving a threat down the flank, skipping past Steve Cook and toe-poking fractionally wide, before Van La Parra was again denied.

Bournemouth did eventually grow into the match, however, and Wilson nearly had his first a quarter of the way through after having a shot deflect narrowly wide.

The hosts were controversially ahead soon after, as Jordon Ibe swung in the corner despite Florent Hadergjonaj being off the field following a strong challenge from Charlie Daniels that went unpunished, which Wilson climbed highest to convert inside the six-yard box.

A first league goal of the campaign for Wilson would soon get even better, volleying the ball home from close range at the back post after Town again failed to deliver with a set-piece delivery.

Andrew Surman set the goal up and would have been on the scoresheet himself had Jonas Lossl not pulled off a big stop, and it looked like being an even bigger save when Simon Francis was shown a second yellow card at the end of the opening 45 minutes.

Despite having just 20% of the ball in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, it was Bournemouth who found the game's third goal through Arter, who rattled the ball into the bottom corner from just inside the box.

Wilson completed his hat-trick from the next chance 12 minutes later, lashing home after some good hold-up play from an unselfish Joshua King.

The hat-trick hero passed up the chance to add his fourth at the death, instead laying the ball off for a teammate, but it mattered little as the Cherries moved into 13th place.
