League One roundup: Sheffield United go top

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's League One action, with Sheffield United taking top spot and the race for promotion remaining close.

Sheffield United have moved to the top of League One while Swindon Town and Doncaster Rovers missed the chance to win this afternoon.

United recorded an impressive 1-0 scoreline at Bournemouth thanks to a Jamie Murphy goal but despite late rallies, Swindon and Doncaster were held 1-1 at home to Preston North End and Yeovil Town respectively.

Tranmere Rovers got their title bid back on track with a comfortable 5-1 win at Colchester United but elsewhere Brentford missed the chance to stay in the playoff places, drawing 0-0 at home to Walsall.

Coventry City also fell away from the chasing pack somewhat after their match against Crewe Alexandra finished 2-1 to the away side, in what was the second meeting between the pair in four days.

Elsewhere Shrewsbury Town came from a goal down to beat Stevenage 2-1 and Hartlepool United won at Scunthorpe United by the same score.

Bottom club Portsmouth lost 1-0 at Oldham Athletic thanks to Jose Baxter's strike, while Crawley Town leapfrogged Leyton Orient after beating them by a single goal.

The remaining game in League One finished 1-1 between Milton Keynes Dons and Carlisle United.
