Former Fulham boss Scott Parker appointed new Bournemouth head coach

Scott Parker has been appointed as Bournemouth's new head coach after leaving Fulham.

The former Fulham boss signed a three-year contract at the Vitality Stadium, replacing Jonathan Woodgate whose contract expires this week.

"I believe this is the perfect fit for both parties," said Parker. "I'm familiar with Bournemouth because of my relationship with Harry Arter. It's a football club I know well from watching him over the years.

"The ethos, the reputation, the journey and the challenge here is something that's very exciting for me and my staff. We want to build a team the fans can be proud of and one they feel represents them. We can't wait to get started."

It was confirmed that Parker has selected his backroom staff. Matt Wells will be Parker's assistant head coach and Rob Burch will be the team's goalkeeping coach.

It was also confirmed that Alastair Harris will be the team's head of performance, Charlie Moore to be its lead physical performance coach, and Jonathan Hill first-team head analyst.

It was confirmed on Monday that Parker had left Fulham after being two years as its head coach.

Fulham was relegated after the 2-0 defeat against Burnley at home in May.
