Barcelona plot Mats Hummels bid

Barcelona are reportedly keen on a deal for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

The 23-year-old, who has just signed a new five-year-contract with the German champions, has been impressive during Germany's Euro 2012 campaign.

According to reports in Spain, the Catalan giants are in the market for a centre-back and will look to Hummels after being deterred in their attempts to sign Javi Martinez and Thiago Silva.

Dortmund loaned Hummels from Bayern Munich in 2008 before making his stay permanent a year later for a £3.8m fee.
