Boreham Wood vs. Maidenhead - prediction, team news, lineups

Boreham Wood and Maidenhead United will bring their respective 2020-21 National League campaigns to a close on Saturday afternoon when they lock horns at Meadow Park.

The home side, who suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Eastleigh last weekend, are currently 13th in the table, two points clear of 14th-placed Maidenhead entering the final day of action.

Match preview

Boreham Wood have won 13, drawn 16 and lost 12 of their 41 league matches this season to collect 55 points, which has left them in 13th spot in the table, four points behind 12th-placed Dagenham & Redbridge.

Luke Garrard's side are only two points clear of 14th-placed Maidenhead, meanwhile, meaning that the two teams would switch positions if the visitors were to triumph on Saturday afternoon.

Boreham Wood are 11 points off the playoff positions, but they will enter this match off the back of a positive run of form, collecting maximum points from three of their last five matches.

The Wood were on the end of a disappointing result at Eastleigh last weekend, though, as a late penalty from Joe Tomlinson handed the hosts, who are battling for a top-seven finish, all three points.

Garrard's team, who have drawn more National League matches than any other side this term, have struggled for consistency at home this term, winning five, drawing nine and losing six of their 20 fixtures on their own patch.

Maidenhead, as mentioned, currently occupy 14th position in the table but would finish 13th if they triumph on Saturday; a defeat, though, could see them slide down to 16th depending on other results.

Like Boreham Wood, the visitors have struggled to put together a consistent run of form this term, winning 14, drawing 11 and losing 16 of their 41 matches to collect 53 points.

Alan Devonshire's side finished last season in 21st, though, meaning that there has certainly been progress this term, and the supporters will be hoping for another strong campaign in 2021-22.

The Magpies will not enter this weekend's match in the best of form, collecting just one point from their last five matches, and they suffered a 2-0 defeat away to 22nd-placed Barnet on Tuesday evening.

Team News

Boreham Wood have no fresh injury concerns from their defeat to Eastleigh last time out, and it would not be a surprise to see the same XI sent onto the field despite the disappointing result.

Kane Smith was replaced in the first half of the clash, though, and his replacement Dan Woodards could now be in line for a position in the starting side.

Kabongo Tshimanga has been in impressive form for Boreham Wood this season, scoring 19 National League goals, and the 24-year-old is again expected to feature in the final third of the field.

Maidenhead, meanwhile, also have a striker who has enjoyed a strong season, with Danilo Orsi-Dadomo scoring 18 league goals, and the 25-year-old should lead the line for the visitors.

The relatively quick turnaround from the Barnet match means that there could be a couple of changes on Saturday, with Josh Kelly and Reece Smith potentially both coming into the side.

Rohan Ince should retain his spot in the first XI, though, while Ryheem Sheckleford is also likely to start.

Boreham Wood possible starting lineup:

Ashmore; Champion, Stephens, Mafuta, Ricketts; Fyfield, Murtagh, Whitely, Woodards; Tshimanga, Marsh

Maidenhead United possible starting lineup:

Holden; Massey, Wells, Kelly, Sheckleford; Wiltshire, Smith, Comley, Sparkes; Ince, Orsi-Dadomo

We say: Boreham Wood 1-1 Maidenhead United

Boreham Wood, as mentioned, have been the draw specialists in the National League this season, and we can see another stalemate occurring here. Maidenhead need a win to finish above Boreham Wood, but we have settled on a low-scoring draw to finish the season at Meadow Park.
