Wheater signs new Bolton deal

David Wheater has committed his future to Bolton Wanderers until 2016.

The towering centre-back, who joined the Trotters from Middlesbrough in 2011, has made 44 appearances for the Championship outfit.

"I'm very happy to have signed. I believe we have a real chance to move forward this season and the manager is certainly the right man for us," he told the club's official website.

"I also believe he can help get the best out of me as a player. I'm very happy living in the area and have made lots of new friends since moving here from Middlesbrough."

The 26-year-old made just four appearances in the Championship last season.
