Championship club Bolton Wanderers have reportedly closed in on the loan signing of Aston Villa midfielder Chris Herd.
The 25-year-old Australian is yet to appear for Premier League side Villa this season after making just two appearances for the Birmingham outfit last term.
According to BBC Radio Manchester, Herd will join the Trotters on a one-month deal, becoming the third new arrival at the Macron Stadium this week after Paddy Kenny and Max Clayton.
Herd could be the first of several fringe Villa players to leave in the emergency loan window.
