Aston Villa eye Wigan target Al-Habsi

Alex McLeish is reportedly considering taking on Ali Al-Habsi as a replacement for the departed Brad Friedel, according to the Daily Mail.

Wigan Athletic had also shown interest in the Oman international following his loan spell at the DW Stadium last season.

However, Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has held firm on a final offer of £3m for the player despite Bolton’s demand of £4m.

Al-Habsi has previously indicated that he would be open to a move in order to escape the shadow of Jussi Jaaskelainen.
