Oliver Norwood strike seals win for Huddersfield Town

Oliver Norwood scores the only goal of the game to give Huddersfield Town a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.

A second-half strike from Oliver Norwood sealed a 1-0 win for Huddersfield Town in their Championship match at Bolton Wanderers this evening.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock in the first half of the encounter at the Reebok Stadium.

Andre Moritz, Robert Hall, Matthew Mills and Jermaine Beckford all tested Alex Smithies in the opening 45 minutes, but the Huddersfield keeper was able to keep their early efforts out.

James Vaughan and Daniel Ward provided the main threat for the visitors, but the latter was forced off with an injury just before the break.

Sean Scannell, who came off the bench to take Ward's place, came close to scoring the opening goal of the game early in the second half, firing just wide within a minute of the restart.

The visitors continued to apply pressure at the start of the second period, as Norwood saw his shot turned behind for a corner by Beckford.

However, Norwood was able to find the target later in the game to put Huddersfield ahead inside the last 20 minutes, connecting with the ball on the volley 30 yards out.

Beckford tried to force in a quick equaliser just three minutes later, but the forward's header drifted just wide.

Both sides continued to create chances late into the game, with David Ngog coming close for Bolton, while Oscar Gobern missed an opportunity to extend the visitors' advantage.
