Brighton & Hove Albion surrender two-goal lead to draw with Bolton Wanderers

Brighton & Hove Albion surrender a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Neil Lennon's Bolton Wanderers, but remain top of the table as their unbeaten run continues.

Brighton & Hove Albion have surrendered a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Bolton Wanderers, but keep their unbeaten run in the Championship intact.

Dale Stephens opened the scoring for Chris Hughton's side with a 31st-minute 20-yard strike from a Bobby Zamora assist.

Jamie Murphy increased the Seagulls's advantage minutes later by converting a right-wing Liam Rosenior cross from close range.

Neil Danns, who saw an earlier free kick go just wide, brought Neil Lennon's outfit back into the tie before half time by rifling home from 20 yards.

The returning David Wheater blocked a Rosenior volley early in the second half before Max Clayton saw his effort at the other end deflected wide.

Rosenior was again involved moments later, testing Ben Amos in the Bolton goal before sending the rebound over the crossbar.

Murphy saw red after 75 minutes for a strong challenge on fellow scorer Danns, with Bolton almost capitalising instantly through Gary Madine who was denied by Stockdale.

Bolton did make their numerical advantage count late on, as Madine rose to fire a header past Stockdale in the 94th minute to hand the home side a share of the points.

Hughton's side, still unbeaten in nine games, remain at the summit of the Championship table despite surrendering a two-goal advantage, while the Trotters fall to 23rd as bottom club Rotherham United picked up three points against Birmingham City.
