Ream prepares for Cahill comparisons

Tim Ream is fully aware that the start of his career at Bolton Wanderers will be largely compared with that of former Trotter Gary Cahill.

The centre-back, who signed for the Premier League club from New York Red Bulls yesterday, understands that supporters will be hoping that the 24-year-old can fill Cahill's boots following the defender's departure to Chelsea.

"Whenever you sell a player and bring another player in of the same position, you're going to have that comparison," Sky Sports News quotes Ream as saying.

"People are going to say, 'he's not this, he doesn't do this as well as Gary', but you've just got to take it and roll with it.

"Everybody's their own player so I just have to do what I'm good at and hopefully everybody will like me."

Ream will not feature in Bolton's FA Cup clash against Swansea City as he awaits completion of necessary paperwork.
