Dougie Freedman delighted with Bolton Wanderers fightback

Freedman delighted with Bolton fightback

New Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman has expressed his delight at his side's 2-1 win over top-of-the-table Cardiff City today.

Craig Noone gave the visitors a first-half lead but a Martin Petrov penalty and David N'Gog header ensured that Freedman's first home match in charge of the Trotters ended with a win.

The 38-year-old manager was unhappy with his side at half time, but had nothing but praise for them following their comeback.

"I learnt today that this team can respond from setbacks and not just put their heads down when things aren't going right for them," said Freedman.

"We've got a group of players in there who are up for the challenge and this is a team that I think will play in the Premier League. It was difficult to take being 1-0 down at half-time, but it was a terrific response from our players after the break.

"I played with one up front because they are a top side and I thought the guys who came on changed the game."

The result lifts Bolton up to 17th in the Championship table, while Cardiff remain top.
