Saturday's League One predictions including Sunderland vs. MK Dons

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Sunderland vs. MK Dons.

Bolton vs. AFC Wimbledon (Saturday, 3.00pm)

After a seven-game unbeaten run was brought to an end last time out, Bolton Wanderers will aim to get their playoff push back on track when they play host to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

At the other end of the table, the Dons head into the weekend in 20th position, with only a point separating them from the relegation zone.

We say: Bolton Wanderers 2-1 AFC Wimbledon

Bolton have proven to be a formidable force at home in recent weeks, and we think they will claim a fifth consecutive home victory, when they face a Wimbledon side that have lost three of their last four away league matches.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Cambridge vs. Accrington (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Cambridge United are aiming to get back to winning ways in League One on Saturday, when they welcome 13th-placed Accrington Stanley to the Abbey Stadium.

The hosts are currently on a six-game winless run in all competitions, meaning that they have slipped down to 16th spot, while Accrington are looking to record three back-to-back victories for the first time since the beginning of the campaign.

We say: Cambridge United 1-0 Accrington Stanley

After a run of difficult results away from home, Cambridge are being backed to return to winnings ways this weekend and continue with their fine form on home soil in League One.

Accrington have had two good results on the bounce, but they have not won on the road since the end of November, albeit they have played the majority of their matches on home soil since then, still suggesting that the advantage is with the hosts this weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Charlton vs. Oxford Utd (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Both Charlton Athletic and Oxford United need to return to winning ways after two back-to-back defeats, and the two teams meet at The Valley on Saturday in League One.

Those two losses have been damaging for Oxford in the short run, as they have slipped out of the playoff spots, currently sitting seventh, while Charlton need to pick up some more victories if they want to climb into the top half of the table.

We say: Charlton Athletic 2-2 Oxford United

Matches involving Oxford this season have usually produced a lot of goals and it is unlikely to be any different this weekend, with both teams expected to get on the scoresheet a few times.

Both sides will be desperate to avoid defeat this weekend and stop their current losing run, which is why they could cancel each other out on Saturday, both being in similar form.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Crewe vs. Portsmouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Portsmouth are in danger of letting the playoff places run away from them, currently sitting 11th and nine points behind sixth spot, so three points on Saturday is crucial.

Crewe Alexandra are the hosts this weekend, and they face a different challenge to their opponents, as they need to make up a nine-point gap to climb out of the relegation zone.

We say: Crewe Alexandra 0-2 Portsmouth

After two positive results and given Crewe's poor run of form, Pompey are strong favourites for this encounter and should come away from the Mornflake Stadium with three points and a clean sheet.

Cowley will need his side to continue this winning run and build momentum towards the back end of the campaign, as they have a lot of points to make up to break into the top six, while Crewe need to focus on beating the teams around them to get out of their situation at the bottom of the table.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Doncaster vs. Sheff Weds (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Two South Yorkshire sides will come face-to-face on Saturday afternoon when Sheffield Wednesday make the short journey to neighbours Doncaster Rovers.

League Two beckons for the hosts, whose perilous position worsens with each passing week, while the playoffs remain an outside bet for a stuttering Wednesday side.

We say: Doncaster Rovers 1-3 Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday may not have been at their free-flowing best for much of the campaign, but a victory against strugglers Doncaster is the only realistic option for the Owls should they hope to maintain playoff hopes.

Doncaster will likely make it difficult for the visitors, yet the Sheffield outfit should have enough to edge this one comfortably.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Fleetwood vs. Lincoln (Saturday, 3.00pm)

With both sides looking to bounce back from respective defeats last time out, Fleetwood Town and Lincoln City face off at the Highbury Stadium on Saturday.

The teams are separated by three points and two places in the League One table heading into this weekend's clash, which promises to be an absorbing affair.

We say: Fleetwood Town 1-1 Lincoln City

Both Fleetwood and Lincoln are involved in a battle for survival, so we expect a keenly-contested affair with a lot of goalmouth action. That said, we fancy a share of the spoils with honours even come the sound of the final whistle.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Gillingham vs. Plymouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher celebrates after the match on January 8, 2022© Reuters

Seeking to pick up a third league win on the bounce for the second time this season, Plymouth Argyle take a trip to the Priestfield Stadium to face Gillingham on Saturday.

The visors will also be looking to complete a league double over the Gills after grinding out a narrow 1-0 when the sides squared off back in August's reverse fixture.

We say: Gillingham X-Y Plymouth Argyle

Gillingham have endured an underwhelming campaign so far and face the risk of dropping down to the fourth tier as they find themselves at the wrong end of the table. After struggling for form at the turn of the year, Plymouth Argyle appear to have found their rhythm once again and could pick up a fourth straight league win this weekend. We anticipate a one-sided affair with the visitors claiming all three points.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Ipswich vs. Burton Albion (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Ipswich Town will continue their unlikely push for a playoff berth when they welcome mid-table Burton Albion to Portman Road on Saturday afternoon.

Having enjoyed a change of fortunes under new boss Kieran McKenna, the Tractor Boys are looking to bridge the gap between themselves and the top six.

We say: Ipswich Town 3-1 Burton Albion

Burton have done well to stabilise themselves in League One this season, given the situation the club was facing when Hasselbaink arrived last season.

However, Ipswich are a well oiled machine at the moment and should be good money for three points on Saturday.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Shrewsbury vs. Morecambe (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Shrewsbury Town's Daniel Udoh celebrates scoring their first goal with Luke Leahy on January 9, 2022© Reuters

Two sides currently sitting in the bottom half of the League One standings can put an end to their lengthy winless runs as Shrewsbury Town host Morecambe at New Meadow on Saturday.

Since a 1-0 triumph over Sheffield Wednesday in their opening fixture this year, The Shrews have failed to win eight straight matches in all competitions, while the team from Lancashire are without a victory in five consecutive contests, drawing Gillingham 1-1 last weekend.

We say: Shrewsbury Town 2-1 Morecambe

They have not played all that bad, but psychologically many things that could go wrong for Morecambe have lately, and that alone can be challenging to overcome when you are in a slump and desperate to stay in the league.

Their current winless slide may be longer than their opponents on Saturday, but The Shrews are a side with a lot more confidence at home, and their tight and compact midfield should be able to take away a lot of The Shrimps time and space, which would allow them to focus heavily on stopping the dangerous Cole Stockton.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Sunderland vs. MK Dons (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Sunderland's stuttering promotion challenge will continue on Saturday afternoon when they welcome fellow top two rivals MK Dons to the Stadium of Light.

In what is shaping up to be one of the biggest matches of the campaign, the pair will know that only three points is good enough to keep them in touch with the top two.

We say: Sunderland 1-1 MK Dons

It really is now or never for Sunderland, with defeat against MK Dons at home on Saturday a non-negotiable if they wish to earn promotion.

MK Dons will pose a huge threat of their own given their promotion ambitions, and should be confident of leaving the North-East with points in hand.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Wycombe vs. Cheltenham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Wycombe Wanderers' Brandon Hanlan celebrates scoring their first goal on January 11, 2022© Reuters

Wycombe Wanderers will continue their search for an automatic berth in League One when midtable Cheltenham Town visit Adams Park on Saturday afternoon.

A fixture in the promotion race for much of the campaign, the hosts will be confident of taking three points against the League One newbies.

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 Cheltenham Town

Wycombe will be wary of the threat that Cheltenham possess, not least because the Robins have stung some of their own promotion rivals in recent weeks.

Yet, with the advantage of playing in front of a home crowd and a near to full-strength side available, expect Wycombe to seal a comfortable win.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.
