Massimo Maccarone on trial with Blackpool?

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has reportedly offered a trial to former Middlesbrough striker Massimo Maccarone.

The 32-year-old is believed to be a free agent following his failure to secure a contract extension with Italian side Sampdoria.

Boss Holloway is eager to boost his goalscoring options before the close of the transfer window and has given Maccarone the chance to fill the void, according to reports this afternoon.

The centre-forward scored 18 goals during a five-year stint at the Riverside.
