Blackpool confirm Jacob Mellis arrival

Blackpool have completed the signing of former Barnsley midfielder Jacob Mellis, subject to a medical.

The 23-year-old has penned a one-year deal at Bloomfield Road with the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

The arrival of Mellis means that Seasiders now have nine players in their squad ahead of the new season.

Blackpool's ranks have been severely depleted in recent weeks, with a number of players leaving the club on free transfers.

"I'm happy to be here. I've been here for two weeks now and I've got used to the place. I'm looking to come here and be successful," Mellis told the club's official website.

Mellis made 33 appearances for Barnsley during the 2013-14 campaign.
