Blackpool 3-3 Leicester City

Kevin Phillips scored twice as Blackpool secured a 3-3 draw with Leicester City on Wednesday.

Blackpool left it late to record a point in a pulsating 3-3 draw with Leicester City on Wednesday.

It was the home side who started the match the stronger, but it took 17 minutes for either side to register a single shot on target.

It was Daniel Drinkwater who brought a fine save out of Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks, before the home side's stopper denied David Nugent after 21 minutes.

The match opened up in the latter stages of the half, and Kevin Phillips came close moments before the 30-minute mark.

Phillips did score moments later, however, when he converted a Thomas Ince cross from close range to send Blackpool ahead.

The away side found themselves back on level terms after 38 minutes, when Jermaine Beckford converted from inside the area.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher came close to sending Blackpool ahead after 49 minutes, but his effort was pushed away by a smart save from Kasper Schmeichel.

Leicester moved 2-1 after 54 minutes when Nugent collected a Drinkwater pass before finding the back of the net from close range.

The lead did not last long as Roman Bednar found the corner after 69 minutes to bring the match level.

Beckford added his second after 73 minutes, after he headed a Nugent cross into the back of the net to regain the lead.

Phillips secured a point for the home side late on, however, as he fired home after Ince had presented him with the ball.

Blackpool have moved into fifth in the Championship table, while Leicester remain 12th.
