Paul Ince: 'Managers need protection'

Paul Ince believes that potential managers are being put off the profession by the number of sackings.

Paul Ince has insisted that the next generation of potential bosses will have been put off by how many managers have been sacked this season.

A total of 34 coaches have been relieved of their duties, with one of the most recent to lose their job - Michael Appleton - only lasting 67 days at Blackburn Rovers.

Reflecting on the number of job losses, current Blackpool manager Ince has called upon the authorities to provide some "protection".

"There needs to be some legislation where there's protection for managers," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "To lose your job after 67 days is ridiculous.

"We're not getting any time. Why would the Steven Gerrards and the Jamie Carraghers want to go into management when there's no protection for them?"

As well as Blackpool, Ince has also had spells in charge of Macclesfield Town, MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers and Notts County.
