Blackpool defender Ian Evatt says that former manager Ian Holloway's training methods in the last few months of his reign at the club contributed to the Seasiders' slump in the Championship.

Blackpool defender Ian Evatt believes that the Seasiders had a slump in their Championship campaign due to former manager Ian Holloway's training methods.

Holloway left Bloomfield Road for Crystal Palace last month and Evatt has criticised the 49-year-old for not holding as many training sessions as normal towards the end of his reign.

"In the last couple of months, we hadn't really done much training," Evatt told BBC Radio Lancashire. "We had numerous days off, anything from two to five or six at a time.

"It was as surprising to the lads as anyone else. We're an honest bunch of players and we want to work hard, but at times we weren't doing that. Maybe that's why we had the bad spell that we had."

Former Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton was appointed as Holloway's successor.
