Blackpool appoint Bowyer as manager

Blackpool have appointed former Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer as their new manager.

The Tangerines had been looking for a new manager since sacking Neil McDonald following their relegation to League Two in the season just finished.

They have now turned to Bowyer, who has agreed a one-year rolling deal at Bloomfield Road having been out of work since leaving Blackburn in November of last year.

Bowyer, who steered Blackburn to eighth and ninth-place finished in the Championship during his two full seasons in charge, will be tasked with leading Blackpool back up the divisions following successive relegations.

The Seasiders finished 22nd in League One last season, dropping into the bottom tier of English football for the first time in 15 years and just five years after being in the Premier League.
