Blackpool allow Blackburn Rovers to hold talks with Michael Appleton

Appleton to speak to Blackburn

Blackpool have confirmed that Blackburn Rovers are now free to speak to Michael Appleton about becoming the new manager at Ewood Park.

The Seasiders initially rejected Blackburn's advances but it is believed that Appleton expressed a desire to leave the club earlier today.

Following talks with the club's chairman, Blackpool have granted permission for Appleton to go ahead with discussions with the former Premier League club, who have been searching for a manager since dismissing Henning Berg after just 57 days in charge.

Appleton was appointed as Ian Holloway's replacement in November from League One outfit Portsmouth.
