Gary Bowyer eyes defensive addition

Gary Bowyer is hoping that he can go into the loan market to bolster his defensive options at Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has revealed that he is in the loan market for a new defender.

In recent days Bowyer has seen Shane Duffy ruled out for the season with a knee problem, while Grant Hanley has also struggled for fitness with a leg injury.

As a result, Bowyer has conceded that his squad is in need of defensive reinforcements for the closing stages of the season.

"We are stretched in the defensive area so it is something that ever since Shane got injured we already started looking," he told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

Tonight, Rovers will be in action away at Sheffield Wednesday.
