Eric Black concerned by 'anxious' Blackburn Rovers

Black concerned by 'anxious' Rovers

Blacburn Rovers caretaker manager Eric Black has told his players that they must be less anxious, despite their 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday night.

Grant Hanley scored the only goal of the game after five minutes at Ewood Park, but Black believes that his team were far too nervous once they took the lead.

"We scored, things had gone to plan, and then, for whatever reason, a bit of anxiety starts to come into our play and there's a bit of anxiety in the spectators too," he said.

"There's an anxiety that arrives when we're trying to retain that lead and we need to retain the ball better.

"Hopefully, winning makes a big difference. We've gone from 11th to fifth but we have to resolve this anxiety-type feeling that invites pressure on us."

The win has lifted Rovers up to fifth in the Championship table.
