Gary Rowett hints at longer Birmingham City stay for Diego Fabbrini

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett says that there is an "outside chance" of signing new loanee Diego Fabbrini permanently.

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has suggested that Diego Fabbrini could join Birmingham City permanently this summer.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues temporarily last week from Watford for the rest of the season after having his loan at fellow Championship side Millwall cut short.

He will only be able to feature in Birmingham's last eight games of the season, but Rowett believes that a longer deal is a possibility.

"As with all our loan signings there is an outside chance that we might be able to do something for next season," he told the club website.

"It's something we did a lot before at Burton where we liked to bring loan players in that we felt we might have a chance of signing at some point down the line."

Fabbrini scored one goal in 12 appearances during his stint with Millwall.
