Gary Rowett delighted by Birmingham City triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett heaps praise on his side after seeing them come from behind to beat Wolves in the Championship.

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has hailed his side for putting in a 'complete performance' to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Blues made a return to winning ways in the Championship on Saturday as they came from behind to see off the promotion hopefuls at St Andrew's.

Rowett reserved particular praise for Demarai Gray, who scored the decisive goal 30 minutes from time following a winding run through the Wolves defence.

"In many ways, that was as complete a performance as we've put in since we came here," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I don't think there's many would argue that we deserved to win.

"And it was fantastic for Demarai Gray to score the winning goal against local rivals. That's why I like to play him in home games. He's capable of doing something special like that. He's only 18. We know we can't play him in every game and have to look after him, but he's repaid a lot of the faith we've shown in him."

Birmingham continue their Championship campaign on Tuesday when they entertain Blackburn Rovers.
