Lee Clark: 'No shots tells its own story'

Lee Clark says that his Birmingham City team were deservedly beaten by Middlesbrough in their first Championship game of the season.

Lee Clark was unable to hide his unhappiness after watching his side slip to a 2-0 reverse to Middlesbrough in their Championship opener on Saturday.

Goals from Daniel Ayala and Kike gave the home side the points at the Riverside Stadium, and Clark said that the defeat was a deserved one.

He told the club's official website: "The stat of no shots on target tells the story. We came to win the match but we never threatened."

David Edgar was in agreement with his boss, but claimed that their performance does not reflect the talent in the squad.

"It's disappointing because we have the talent to go and hurt teams," he added. "We didn't do ourselves justice."

Clark's side host Brighton & Hove Albion next week.
