Real Betis supporters to boycott Europa League match?

Betis supporters to boycott EL match?

A Real Betis supporters group have vowed to boycott the Spanish club's Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan on Thursday evening.

The statement, which was made by Supporters Gol Sur 1986, has claimed that "bad management" and poor league form are the reasons behind their proposed absence.

"Given the way the season has gone for the team, the bad management and planning of the club by the current board of directors, we of Supporters Gol Ser have decided that by form of protest, we will not attend the match this Thursday against Rubin Kazan," read the statement. "It is utterly unacceptable that more money is charged for tickets, to fans that have never let their team down and last Sunday, demonstrated a further example of our faithfulness, by taking a large following to Granada.

"As our unconditional support, defeat after defeat, does not drive them to make changes, we do not believe that it will affect them much to see the stadium empty, except for those who seek to take profit from Beticismo. We ask the rest of the Betis fans not to buy tickets and not to attend the game on Thursday, thus demonstrating this way our indignation with the current team and the board of directors of Real Betis.

"We will soon inform of more activities we will be organising in protest. Please pass this message to every Betico you know. We will attempt to give this the maximum publicity, so that it is made clear that the Betis fans are fed up with this situation."

Betis currently sit bottom of La Liga, 10 points from safety.
