Ribery signs Bayern extension

Bayern Munich have announced that Franck Ribery has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension.

The 30-year-old had been expected to remain at the Allianz Arena after revealing that he has no intentions of leaving the Champions League winners.

The German champions have also confirmed that defender Daniel van Buyten has signed a contract keeping him at the club for another season.

"We are delighted to have kept two key players with us," BBC Sport quotes Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as saying.

"Franck and Daniel were outstanding in the past season and we counted on them to make the difference in the crucial games."

Ribery has been a Bayern player since 2007.
