Eberl: 'Xhaka will not join Bayern'

Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has claimed that the club have no intention of selling Granit Xhaka to Bayern Munich this summer.

Reports in Germany have suggested that Bayern will look to sign Xhaka as a replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger, whose move to Manchester United was confirmed on Monday, but Eberl believes that the Swiss midfielder will be at the club for at least another season.

"Bayern will not get Xhaka," Eberl told Bild. "There is no scenario in which Granit will go to Bayern this summer.

"The only players who will leave us are Peniel Mlapa and Amin Younes. Granit will be here with us – no matter what."

Xhaka moved to Gladbach from Basel in 2012.
