How Bayern Munich could line up against Borussia Dortmund

Bayern Munich are set to work around another quartet of absentees for Tuesday's DFL-Supercup clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The German champions lost Benjamin Pavard to an ankle issue before their opening-day Bundesliga clash with Borussia Monchengladbach, and the right-back is now feared to be facing at least a month on the sidelines.

Josip Stanisic started in his place for Friday's draw, but Bouna Sarr could come in to an otherwise unchanged back line comprising Niklas Sule, Dayot Upamecano and the fit-again Alphonso Davies.

Corentin Tolisso was nowhere to be seen against Monchengladbach despite returning to full training after COVID-19 infection, but Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are Julian Nagelsmann's undisputed first-choice midfield pairing.

Highly-rated prospect Jamal Musiala will be vying for more starts in a Bayern shirt this term, but a man nearly 14 years his senior in Thomas Muller seems set to operate in the hole as Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane provide the width.

Kingsley Coman is fit again and made a cameo appearance against Monchengladbach to bolster his side's attacking options, while Robert Lewandowski continues to follow in the footsteps of Gerd Muller, who sadly passed away over the weekend at the age of 75.

Lewandowski has amassed 22 goals from 23 games against Dortmund since leaving BVB for Bayern, but he only boasts one strike from five DFL-Supercup matches against his former club.
