Franck Ribery: 'What more could I have done?'

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery asks what more he could have done to win the Ballon d'Or this year having missed out to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has asked what else he could have done in 2013 to win the Ballon d'Or.

Ribery won a plethora of titles with Bayern last campaign, including a unique treble of the Bundesliga title, the Champions League and the German Cup, while he was also named UEFA's Best Player in Europe for the 2012-13 season.

However, the Frenchman still finished third in the voting for the award, missing out to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who were first and second respectively.

Ribery has admitted that he would have loved to have been named the world's best player, but insists that success with Bayern and France are more important to him.

"What more could I have done other than to win absolutely everything with Bayern? Whether I finish second or third makes no difference," Ribery told Bild.

"I'm no egoist and this title is not my aim - I'd rather win everything with Bayern all over again and then win the World Cup. That's important. Of course it would have been nice to win, but it's fine. We Bayern players and I first of all am just proud to be represented here.

"It would have been great, above all for the fans, the club and for my wife, but it's not the most important thing for me. I'm pleased that the issue is over with now. I want to win all the titles again this season with Bayern."

The 30-year-old was named in the FIFPro World XI for the year alongside his Bayern teammates Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm.
