Arjen Robben lost for words

Arjen Robben says that Bayern Munich are heading into the history books after finally clinching the club's fifth European title.

Bayern Munich's goal-scoring hero Arjen Robben was lost for words in trying to describe his team's Champions League triumph over Borussia Dortmund.

The Bavarian side - twice beaten in the final in previous years - finally ended their long wait for a fifth European crown with a 2-1 victory over their arch rivals at Wembley.

The game was heading for extra time when the Dutch international surged into the box and slotted past Roman Weidenfeller, which banished memories of his penalty miss against Chelsea a year ago to the history books.

"I can't put it into words," Sky Sports News quotes the 29-year-old as saying. "I have so many emotions. Last year was such a disappointment and in the last four years we've been to three finals - it needed to happen!

"My whole career went through my mind when I scored, it is such a special feeling you can't describe it. You don't want to be a loser every time, coming always in second place.

"I have dreamt about it many times. We knew after last season what needed to be done to improve and that is what we did. We are already going into the history books but now we can win the treble."

Bayern face Stuttgart in the German Cup final on June 1.
