Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have met on 105 occasions down the years, and the Bavarians boast 63 wins compared to the Werkself's 22 successes, while another 20 contests have ended level.

The most recent of those triumphs for Bayern came in a convincing manner in November 2025, when Vincent Kompany's men strode to a 3-0 win thanks to three first-half goals from Serge Gnabry, Nicolas Jackson and Loic Bade, the latter turning into his own net.

In the previous season's Champions League, Harry Kane opened the scoring in the first leg for Bayern after just nine minutes after darting onto the end of Michael Olise's whipped delivery from the right during his team's 3-0 win in the round of 16.

The Englishman would go on to score another from the penalty spot late on, but not before Jamal Musiala had doubled the Bavarians' lead in the 54th minute following a disastrous error from goalkeeper Matej Kovar.

Despite a wave of early pressure in the second leg on March 11, Leverkusen could not find a way through the Bavarians' defence, eventually losing after Kane netted a second-half sucker punch before Alphonso Davies rounded off a strong performance with a goal of his own.

Leverkusen found it difficult to get the better of Bayern in 2024-25, drawing twice in the league but failing to close the gap to the champions of the Bundesliga.

However, Xabi Alonso's side at least beat Kompany's Bayern 1-0 in the DFB-Pokal round of 16 on December 3, 2024, though they were aided by Manuel Neuer's red card.

Their first-leg defeat against Bayern was the 10th time since August 2017 - a period encompassing 20 matches - that they had conceded at least three goals against the Bavarians.

Leverkusen have won two of their last three matches against Kompany's team at BayArena - winning 3-0 in the Bundesliga in February 2024 - but the Bavarians also won six of their prior seven at the stadium.
