Bayer Leverkusen quell claims that Sidney Sam could be allowed to leave the club in January.

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen has denied suggestions that Sidney Sam could be allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who has impressed in the German league this season, has been linked with a move to Schalke 04, in addition to a number of Premier League clubs.

However, Leverkusen manager Rudi Voller has quelled claims that the winger could leave. He told Kolner Stadtanzeiger: "Sidney Sam is staying. He is a valuable piece in our puzzle for the first team and will be an important player in the second half of the season.

"We are sure of that. There is no alternative to this decision. We are not selling him to any club."

Sam has a contract with the club until 2015.
