Joel Matip signs new Barcelona deal

Spanish goalkeeper Joel Matip has signed a new long-term contract with Barcelona.

The 25-year-old, who came through the Barca youth system, will continue with Barcelona B next season, while providing support to new first-team stoppers Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo.

"This is a very special day for me, for my friends and for my family. I'm really happy, enthusiastic and looking forward to the start of the season," he told reporters at a press conference.

Matip is now contracted to the club until at least 2017.
