Barca chief: 'The doors are always open for Lionel Messi'

Barcelona vice-president Eduard Romeu has hinted that Lionel Messi could return to Barcelona.

The Argentina international departed Camp Nou in 2021 due to the club's poor financial situation and he subsequently signed a two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

With his contract set to expire in 2023, speculation is growing that Messi could re-sign for the Catalan giants next summer.

Romeu has previously stated that a Barcelona return is "possible" for Messi, and he has reiterated that stance in a press conference.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, the vice-president said: "If the club want [to bring him back], we will get to work [in working out a deal]. We know how to make miracles happen. The doors are always open for Messi."

A recent report stated that the 35-year-old is yet to receive any official contract offers, with Messi expected to wait until after the World Cup to make a decision on his future.

The Argentinian has scored eight goals and provided eight assists in his 13 appearances this season.
