How Barcelona could line up against Cadiz

Barcelona boss Xavi could make three changes to his starting side for Sunday's La Liga clash with Cadiz.

The La Liga champions started their 2023-24 campaign with a goalless draw against Getafe, and two players who featured in that contest will definitely be unavailable this weekend.

Indeed, Raphinha is suspended due to the red card that he picked up in the latter stages of the first half, while Ronald Araujo suffered a thigh injury in training earlier this week, with the Uruguay international now facing a month on the sidelines.

Barcelona will also again be missing new signing Inigo Martinez, but the centre-back is set to return to first-team training next week, as he moves into the latter stages of his recovery from a foot injury.

Sergi Roberto could take Araujo's spot at right-back, while Abde Ezzalzouli is likely to be given the nod over the likes of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres to feature in the final third of the field.

Gavi is also expected to come into the first XI, with Oriol Romeu potentially being the player to drop down to the bench for the home side.

Frenkie de Jong and Pedri are again certain starters in the middle of midfield, while Andreas Christensen is fit despite being substituted at the interval of the goalless draw with Getafe last time out.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Kounde, Christensen, Balde; Pedri, De Jong, Gundogan; Ezzalzouli, Lewandowski, Gavi
